Wilma McKinnon

Primary Assistant - Willow Room
Wilma was born in Monrovia, Liberia and immigrated to the United States at the age of 11 after a coup affected her family's peaceful way of living. Always having a fondness for the innocence and curiosity of young children, she chose to study nursing at Curry College with a concentration in pediatrics. While studying, she worked in the emergency room at Boston Children's Hospital. Once her two children were born, Wilma decided to stay home with them for several years.

Wilma has worked as a middle school paraprofessional and an assistant teacher with infants, toddlers and preschoolers for eight years. Her interest in Montessori education was piqued by a family member's own Montessori education and their freedom to explore their classroom and learn at their own pace. Now Wilma brings her wealth of experience to our Willow classroom!

Wilma enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She also enjoys walking, writing poetry, learning about holistic health (mainly herbs), taking scenic photos, watching movies and reading.
